Pixel Watts with the Wahoo KICKR
KICKR, KICKR CORE, KICKR MOVE and KICKR SNAP speak the FTMS standard over Bluetooth — exactly what Pixel Watts rides. Pair it, pick ERG or simulation, go. A KICKR MOVE is one of the machines Pixel Watts is developed on every day.
- Power, cadence and resistance control over FTMS (Bluetooth) — no ANT+ dongle needed.
- ERG mode for workouts and the FTP test; simulation mode with real gradient physics for free riding.
- Pair straight in the browser (Chrome/Edge), in the Mac app or in the iPad app.
Riding in three minutes
- Close the Wahoo app and any other trainer app — a KICKR accepts only one controlling Bluetooth connection.
- Open app.pixelwatts.com in Chrome or Edge (or start the Mac/iPad app) and go to “Pair”.
- Turn the cranks a few times so the KICKR wakes up, then choose “Smart Trainer” — it shows up as KICKR CORE/MOVE/SNAP.
- Optionally pair a chest strap and cadence sensor, Bluetooth as well.
- Ride: the demo stage works straight away, no account.
Common KICKR questions
Which KICKR models work?
Everything with FTMS over Bluetooth: KICKR (2018 on), KICKR CORE, KICKR MOVE, KICKR SNAP, KICKR BIKE. A KICKR MOVE is one of our daily development machines.
Why can't the browser find my KICKR?
Usually another app is holding the connection — the Wahoo app in the background is enough. Close other apps, make sure Bluetooth is on, turn the cranks and search again. Web Bluetooth exists in Chrome and Edge only, not Safari or Firefox — there, use the Mac or iPad app.
Do I need to run a spindown?
Not for Pixel Watts: we read the power the KICKR reports. Calibrate (spindown) in the Wahoo app if you want to — modern direct drives like KICKR and CORE practically never need it.
Can Pixel Watts run alongside Zwift?
Only one app can control the trainer: it accepts a single FTMS connection. One after the other always works — and every Pixel Watts ride exports as FIT, so you can analyse it anywhere.
