Pixel Watts with Xplova trainers
Xplova trainers are verified end to end with Pixel Watts — including the quirks these machines have in the detail. Pairing, ERG and whole sessions have been ridden.
- FTMS over Bluetooth, power and resistance control.
- The device quirks (in how it starts up, for instance) are handled by the app itself — you notice none of it.
Riding in three minutes
- Close other trainer apps — the Xplova accepts only one controlling Bluetooth connection.
- Open app.pixelwatts.com in Chrome or Edge (or the Mac/iPad app) and go to “Pair”.
- Pedal and choose “Smart Trainer” — the Xplova appears in the list.
- Optionally pair heart rate and cadence sensors.
- Ride — the app catches the machine's start-up behaviour automatically.
Common Xplova questions
What do you mean by “quirks”?
Xplova machines report in slightly off-standard at the start — for instance in when they respond to power rather than cadence. Pixel Watts knows these cases and handles them in code; the app was co-developed on an Xplova.
Do ERG workouts and the FTP test work?
Yes, both have been ridden completely on Xplova machines: automatic resistance control, ramp test, whole sessions.
Why can't the browser find my trainer?
Usually another app holds the connection or the machine is asleep. Close apps, pedal, search again — and Web Bluetooth exists in Chrome/Edge only; on an iPad use the iPad app.
Do I need ANT+?
No, everything runs over Bluetooth (FTMS).
